The Triangle Intermediary Development Programme

Triangle Intermediaries are communication specialists who work on behalf of HMCTS to support people participating in a court proceedings within the Family or Criminal court. They provide impartial recommendations to HMCTS about a person's specific communication needs and outline the steps needed to achieve them.

Triangle is the only UK Intermediary provider to specialise in supporting children and young people. Our intermediaries travel nationwide to ensure our young clients get the support they need.

We run the Intermediary Development Programme (IDP) throughout the year and encourage applications from people with a excellent communication skills to work with us.

Ideally you will have experience of working or volunteering in the youth or justice sectors. We also welcome applications from recent graduates with Speech and Language, Psychology, Criminology or Law degrees.

How does the training programme work?

We run our initial week long training programme 3 times per year with a mixture of virtual and in person delivery. Upon successful completion of the assessed stages of the training programme, you could be offered a role to begin work as a trainee Intermediary with Triangle.

We offer various different contracting options for the right candidates - ranging from sessional work up to full time contracted hours. Once you begin work as a trainee intermediary you will exposed to plenty of live assessments and court appearances so you can watch and learn in a real world setting from our most experienced Intermediaries. When you have completed this period of 'shadowing' and have conducted some of your own appointments under close supervision, you will begin to build you own client base.

Post training support

We have a dedicated central team based at our Brighton office who look after all enquiries and admin. They take care of all travel and accomodation bookings for the Intermediary team and our out of hours on call service means there's a manager at the end of the phone if you need urgent help.

All of the team have regular peer and 1:1 supervision with plenty of CPD opportunities throughout the year, as well as a career pathway into other areas of the organisation such as Investigative Interviewing.
